The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) arrested a 7-member gang that kidnapped, robbed, and caused the death of a 56-year-old man (A.S.) shortly after he arrived in Beirut.
His sister-in-law (S.M.), along with 3 other gang members, were watching him as soon as he arrived in the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport from Nigeria.
A.S. was transporting a suitcase full of money, amounting to around $400,000, to the office of a company called Silver Wings in Tayouneh. He was accompanied by an employee from the company.
His sister-in-law (S.M.) gave the orders to the 3 other gang members to kidnap and rob him.
They intercepted him and the Silver Wings’ employee, handcuffed them and took them to the Choueifat area, where they beat them, stole the money, and left the lifeless body of A.S. at the scene.
The ISF did not report the condition of the employee.
A forensic doctor’s examination determined that A.S. suffered a severe heart attack caused by extreme fear during the kidnapping and robbery. He died on the spot.
After careful investigation, the ISF was successfully able to arrest the gang members in Tyre, Baabda, and Dahiyeh. They were identified as:
- 34-year-old S.M. (Lebanese) sister-in-law of the victim A.S.
- 50-year-old M.N. (Lebanese)
- 21-year-old B.T. (Syrian)
- 21-year-old H.H. (Lebanese)
- 48-year-old B.A. (Lebanese) who has a history of robbery and theft
- 41-year-old H.A. (Lebanese) who has a history of robbery and theft
- 32-year-old K.J. (Syrian) who has a history of robbery and theft
The ISF seized a number of vehicles, narcotics, money, and jewelry that were in the detainees’ possession.
