Charbel Thoumi got beaten up and dragged across the floor in Haret Hreik by security forces for cursing the president of Lebanon Michel Aoun .
Security forces can arrest and detain citizens for any freedom of expression or speech that is deemed “insulting against the president” in whatever way or form. It is a penal law that is enforced in Lebanon with many such recorded cases.
