With the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 advancing through the Quarter-Finals and with just 8 teams left, Lebanon’s basketball team is still shining throughout the prestigious competition.

The Lebanese player, Wael Arakji, has been specifically selected to be picked as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), which is voted by the public.

Arakji is now leading the charts and topping the score with 620114 votes (to date), followed by Ahmad Al Dwairi (from Jordan) in the second position, and Thirdy Ravena (from the Philippines) in the third position.

According to FIBA, Wael Arakji “has been the heart and soul of this Lebanon team who made it through to the Semi-Finals. He’s scored at least 20 points in every game he has played, highlighted by 32 points against China in the Quarter-Finals.”

Earlier this week, the Lebanese basketball team gained the top spot in Volume 2 of the power ranking, being first among the 15 other teams, and beating countries like Australia, Korea, Iran, Japan, and more!

Lebanon will now face the Jordanian team for the FIBA Asia Cup 2022’s Semi-Finals on Saturday, July 23rd, at 4:00 pm (Beirut time).

Lebanon’s basketball team is currently reviving the hope of the Lebanese people in their country and the national basketball team.
