Former Lebanese MP and Head of the Progressive Socialist Party Walid Jumblatt filed a lawsuit against Judge Ghada Aoun on Tuesday following a tweet, in which she shared a list of Lebanese politicians that Swiss Banks have allegedly frozen the accounts of, including Jumblatt.
“I don’t know how true this information is. But why don’t the people whose names are on this list disclose their accounts in Swiss banks? Only for the sake of transparency!” Judge Aoun tweeted on November 9.
She later deleted her tweet before adding, “I hope this will pave the way for a law on lifting bank secrecy.”
This is not the first time a politician has filed a lawsuit against Judge Aoun. Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri filed a complaint over libel and defamation, also regarding the same tweet back in November.
