Uber is one of the most widely-used transportation apps in the world, and it has changed the way we look at “calling a cab” by catching a ride just with a few clicks on your mobile device.
Many of those who are Uber drivers often take up the position as a means of getting extra cash on top of a full-time job, and they use their free time working for the app. Yet, the tipping culture within Uber is not so common.
This is where Anthony Kantara, a Lebanese guy living in Canada, comes in. He’s already posted a video about tipping drive-thru workers $5,000, which has gone viral, and he’s back at it again with Uber drivers in the second part of his giving back series.
For those of you who don’t know, we are proud to say that Anthony is also our very own founder of The961!
The reactions of the Uber drivers upon receiving a tip of $100 or more are priceless and truly inspiring.
“What’s the biggest tip you’ve ever got?” Anthony asks the unsuspecting driver.
“I don’t know, it could be you,” the driver jokes.
Then, as Anthony hands him a $100 bill, the driver bursts in awe, “Are you serious?!”
“WHAT?! No, no, no, no, no,” says another driver.
“A hundred dollars?! That’s like six hours [of work]!” exclaims another.
Anthony decided to give away a sum of $5,000 given to him by NordVPN, one of his clients, after watching videos when growing up about people giving back and aspiring to do the same one day when he was able to.
He used to work for less than minimum wage, and knowing how hard it is, he wanted to bestow a little kindness on those who work hard for every dollar they earn. And, thanks to his giving spirit and NordVPN’s generous contribution, he was able to!
NordVPN is one of the leading VPN services on the market today and offers secure and private internet browsing, even on public WiFi. You can also use it to browse sites not available in your location or to stream movies or shows from other countries. And the best part, it won’t slow your buffer times, something really useful when you’re using the internet in Lebanon as we know.
Anthony has taken his relationship with NordVPN even further, securing a remarkable deal for the961’s fans in Lebanon and around the world. They are getting 75% off a three-year plan and an extra month for free! That deal is still ongoing and, if you haven’t gotten yours, you can still do so by clicking here.
If you noticed the title of the video, you’ll see that it says “Part 1.” This is the second installment of tipping hardworking workers, which started with the tipping generously drive-thru workers. Part 2 of the Uber driver endeavor is soon to come!
Anthony has plans to do several of these kinds of videos around the world to give back to the community, so stay tuned for the next one and subscribe to his YouTube channel.
