The Beirut International Awards Festival has always been a prominent red carpet event in Lebanon with a glamorous grandeur the like of the Oscar Awards.

Each year, it dedicates the honor to a past Lebanese icon. In 2011, it honored Gibran Khalil Gibran, Professor Michael Dabaghi in 2012, Assi and Mansour El-Rahbani in 2013, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 2014, our Lebanese iconic Sabah in 2015, and former Lebanese President and reformer Major General Fouad Chehab in 2016.

In 2017, the event was held in honor of former Prime Minister Rafic Hariri, and in 2018 it was the internationally famous Lebanese actor Omar El-Sherif who was honored. This year, 2019, it will be in honor of none other than Hassan Kamel El Sabbah for his outstanding innovating contribution to the world.

While in previous years, this glamourous award festival was always held under the patronage of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad El-Hariri, this year it will be held under the Governor of Beirut, Judge Ziad Chebib.

Since its first edition, a decade ago, BIAF has been one of the topmost awaited events in Lebanon and the region because of its definite glitz and glam, and the spectacular dazzling entertainment it always presents. Among the various performances planned for this 2019 edition: Melhem Zein, Mohamed Ramadan, Nassif Zeytoun, and Douzi.

However, probably the most exciting news of all is that the BIAF committee has broken its rule regarding the attendance by invitation only and is opening the event to the public.
