The well-known Lebanese-French jazz trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf collaborated with the American actress Sharon Stone on a new touching music video, Our Flag.
Highlighting the duality of injustice in the world, this music video is from Ibrahim’s 15th album titled “Capacity to Love.”
Directed by Maalouf and Nicolas Tussing, the video features the musician’s music fusing Arabic and jazz tunes, montages of photos depicting tragic accidents around the world, including the Beirut Blast, and the American actress reciting a sentimental poem.
The video opens with footage of landscapes and then transcends to showcase plastic pollution, global warming, refugees escaping, and world leaders such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, and Nelson Mandela
The video then cuts to Sharon Stone sitting with tears in her eyes, citing an emotional monologue apologizing for her country’s mistakes while also highlighting how much she loves it.
Currently, Ibrahim Maalouf is one of the most popular jazz artists. In 2016, he became the first jazz musician in history to sell out the Accor Arena in Paris Bercy, France’s largest concert hall.
In recent years, he collaborated with many personalities, including Wynton Marsalis, Angelique Kidjo, Melody Gardot, the Chronos Quartet, Trilok Gurtu, Josh Groban, Marcus Miller, and Salif Keita. In 2021 he appeared on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show with Jon Batiste.
