During a patrol by the State Security Directorate Office, for the purpose of capturing illegal money exchangers in Sidon, all illegal money exchangers scampered to hide from being caught.
The Lebanese authorities’ patrol carried out its raid on the afternoon of June 28 to expose and capture the illegal money exchangers on the Banks’ Avenue in Sidon. But these exchangers appeared to have been informed of the raid and had fled and hid as the patrol arrived.
Illegal black market exchangers have been selling 29,450 LBP and buying it for 29,500 LBP. Their illegal and high exchange rate further deteriorates the economic crisis as the official dollar rate still stands at 1,500 LBP.
