The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Lebanon teamed up with the Citi Foundation to launch, on Wednesday, the 3rd edition of the Resilient Futures program.
The program will support the crisis-hit young business people in expanding or building up their businesses.
First launched in August 2019, the program provided cash grants to 102 vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian individuals.
The supported businesses included the food and beverage sector, hairdressing, tailoring, and agriculture. The target for the new edition of 2022 has increased to 145 young business people.
Matias Meier, the IRC’s Country Director in Lebanon, said that the new edition of the “Resilient Futures” program will help young people start or grow their businesses and earn a living, and boost their confidence to be productive in society.
The 2022 edition will help these businesses persist and cope with the ongoing difficult conditions.
The CEO of Citi, Ghassan Salem, added that the 3rd edition will contribute to supporting young people in Lebanon to enter employment and acquire the skills required to earn a living.
