On Thursday evening, firefighters extinguished a fire that erupted in Beirut Port silos.

It was reported that the fire was caused by the fermentation of the wheat inside the silos and high temperatures.

According to local news, smoke was seen emanating from the rubble of the silos in the last few days.

#Beirut Port docked ships honking frantically. It’s 01:20 am. Just after wheat in our destroyed grain silos fermented and caused a fire just over an hour ago.

    I’m surprised I haven’t felt a #BeirutExplosion trauma trigger yet…

Earlier that day, the families of the Beirut Port blast detainees staged a sit-in in front of the Palace of Justice asking for their release.

While on July 4th, families of victims of the explosion staged a sit-in in front of the Port to commemorate 23 months since the tragedy.

Lebanon has been facing a dilemma on what to do with the damaged silos having the Lebanese government ordering its demolition while others, especially the families of the victims, are calling for its protection and even for it to be categorized as a national historic building.

The horrific tragedy of the Beirut Blast is barely a month away from its 2nd anniversary, and the families of the victims are still compelled to protest for justice while the investigation continues to be obstructed by political interferences and lawsuits.
