On the occasion of Lebanon’s 79th Independence Day, the U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken extended his “sincerest wishes to the people of Lebanon on their Independence Day.”
“The Lebanese people are renowned for their rich and dynamic culture, and we recognize the resilience they have exhibited the past 79 years in confronting a series of critical challenges,” Blinken said in a statement.
The statement added that the United States will continue to stand with the Lebanese people “in our shared ambition for a better future.”
The U.S. is continuing its efforts to support the Lebanese people. At the beginning of November, the United States pledged $72 million in humanitarian aid to Lebanon, aiming at feeding those currently struggling to put food on the table.
