The US embassy in Lebanon announced the launch of 35 energy projects that will provide power to 17 Lebanese villages.
“Hand in hand, let’s re-light 17 Lebanese villages through INARA in addition to 35 green energy projects that will reduce the dependence on fossil fuel and lessen environmental pollution damage.”
On August 5th, Rechmaya Hydropower Plant and Penstock was announced as the first station to be rehabilitated by INARA.
More than 23,000 people will directly benefit from the project and more than 100,000 will benefit from the extra electricity produced.
In a statement, the US ambassador to Lebanon, Dorothy Shea, reaffirmed her government support for Lebanon. “We truly are in this with you,” she stated.
Innovation For Affordable And Renewable Energy For All (INARA) is funded by USAID which allocated a budget of $30 million.
