A loud explosion was heard in the Hay El-Sellom area in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Saturday afternoon, local media reported.
Initial reports said the sound resulted from the explosion of a bulldozer tire in a waste disposal facility.
However, military sources later told the LBCI television channel that it was caused by the explosion of an unidentified object in a waste collection site belonging to the Lebanese waste management company CityBlu.
The sources denied that a bulldozer tire had exploded in the area, adding that investigations into the incident were underway to uncover its details.
