On Friday, the Lebanese Army announced that it has received the first batch of aid from Qatar.
In July, Qatar pledged to help the Lebanese Army with $60 million to cover the soldiers’ salaries and basic needs.
Lebanese Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, thanked the State of Qatar and its Emir for their continuous support to the Lebanese Army during the worsening economic crisis.
“On 8/12/2022, the army received the first batch of the Qatari financial grant that was presented by the Emir of the brotherly State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to the Lebanese Army with the goal of supporting the salaries of the army, and it began to be distributed today equally between all military personnel.”
In July 2021 and June 2022, Qatar also provided the Lebanese Army with 70 tonnes of food supplies each time.
And in July 2022, Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health received around 991,000 liters of fuel from Qatar to support health facilities.
