The Lebanese Army Command issued a statement on Thursday, June 30th, declaring that it has thwarted an illegal immigration attempt. It added that it arrested the main culprit as well as three citizens who were with him.
The culprit was arrested while driving a pickup truck without a license and registration. The army also found a Kalashnikov, 4000 liters of diesel fuel, 100 lifejackets, and 52 tires in their possession.
The Lebanese Army handed over the confiscated items to the specialized authorities and started an investigation into the matter under the supervision of the judiciary.
This is not a rare event. The Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces (ISF) have been working hard to thwart any similar operation after the infamous “death boat” incident that occurred in Tripoli a few weeks ago.
