Lebanon registered 1,504 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, according to the Health Ministry.
In its latest report on the outbreak, the Health Ministry indicated that 33 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon had passed away between Thursday and Friday and that 3,823 others recovered in the same period.
In total, 7,090 virus-related deaths and 441,631 recoveries have been recorded in Lebanon since its first case of infection was confirmed last year.
Since February 2020, Lebanon has registered 518,104 infections, of which 69,383 are currently active, taking into account the deaths and recoveries.
The total number of cases includes 2,685 healthcare workers, of whom 1 tested positive for the virus between Thursday and Friday.
In the same period, 16,742 tests to detect the COVID-19 virus were administered across Lebanon, namely 13,157 local PCR tests, 3,117 PCR tests at Beirut Airport, and 468 antigen tests.
As of the time of writing, 1,487 beds in Lebanon are occupied by COVID-19 patients, 682 patients are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 188 are on mechanical ventilation.
In the past 24 hours, 4,745 people received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Lebanon, and 4,867 others received the second dose.
So far, the first and second vaccine shots have been administered to 263,684 and 144,511 people in the country, respectively.
On Thursday, Lebanon registered 1,512 infections and 30 fatalities.
