Watch Nadine Labaki & Lebanese Public Figures Sing To Promote Growing Local (Video)

@nadinelabaki

Multi-award-winning director and actress Nadine Labaki, just dropped an exciting video to promote and encourage the agriculture movement in Lebanon.

It “is a national campaign gathering most of the sustainable agriculture initiatives and aiming to help citizens who are willing to grow seeds and vegetables in their homes or their lands,” Labaki wrote on the post.

The campaign is called Zarri3et Albi (seed of my heart); the name is a witty play on the title of the song Hashisht Albi (weed of my heart) from the soundtrack of her successful film ‘Where Do We Do Now?’

In collaboration with many sustainable agriculture initiatives that work “endlessly to promote sustainable living”, Labaki created the Zarri3et Albi video for the cause #HelpThemSeedForThemToFeed.

Its purpose is to shed light on and support the agricultural movement that many have become a part of after the currency collapse.

The current economic crisis in Lebanon has driven many to turn to their fields and plant on their own produce since market prices have skyrocketed.

The video is a collaborative effort of dozens of influential members of the Lebanese society, all joined together to sing a brilliant parody of Hashishet Albi, Zarri3et Albi. It’s sure to get stuck in your head!

In her caption, Labaki thanked her husband Khaled Mouzannar, who is the brain behind this parody idea, and the creator of her movies’ brilliant soundtracks.

Several public figures made an appearance in the video, such as the loveable George Khabbaz and Adele Jamaleldine.

News reporter Raneem Bou Khzam, journalist Halima Tabiaa, and several other presenters have also joined in singing along with the music.

Many activists and influential Instagram-famous figures took part as well in the video.

The video shows many of them getting down into the dirt not only unashamed but proud to make their own crops, labneh, cheese, olives, jam, and more.

This is exactly the energy Lebanon needs right now!
