Lebanese expats are coming home for the holidays in large numbers despite the ongoing crises that make living in Lebanon a daily hardship.
In a tweet, Minister of Public works and Transport Ali Hamieh confirmed that 91 aircrafts carrying Lebanese expatriates are landing in Lebanon. 66 of these airplanes have already landed yesterday, and the remaining are arriving today, Thursday.
He stated that these planes are coming from around the world and will be landing at Rafic Harriri International airport. He deems that the Lebanese expats are declaring by that the renewal of their confidence in Lebanon.
For the Lebanese expats, this is more of a stance of solidarity with their loved ones in the homeland as the country is wrecked by a multi-dimensional economic crisis. They are coming to show love and support by celebrating Christmas and the New Year with their families.
For the population in general, the news brings some encouragement considering the increasing number of people leaving Lebanon since 2019.
