Al-Jadeed TV’s building in Beirut’s Cola area was struck by gunfire overnight in the third attack against the network in four days.
Security forces guarding the building reported that it was hit by several gunshots and that the perpetrator fired directly at the building, causing material damage.
Al-Jadeed Public Relations Director Ibrahim al-Halabi stated that security forces are working to identify the culprits and that the network will respond through both journalistic and judicial means.
Halabi also noted that the attacks, which are occurring in the presence of security forces, are intended to send a message and may increase tensions, but will not lead to any results.
The attack is not believed to be connected to a recent comedy sketch aired on al-Jadeed that was deemed insulting to southern women by some viewers.
