Lebanese film Farah was released in VOX Cinemas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) just last week. The film initially premiered at the Mall of the Emirates on November 28 and was then commercially released at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates and Abu Dhabi’s YAS Mall on December 1.
The film is a psychological thriller that discusses themes of mental health, the pharmaceutical industry, and the dynamics of the father-daughter relationship present in modern-day Lebanon.
The film follows the story of Lina, a pre-med student, who begins having horrific and recurring nightmares and decides to return to Lebanon. This choice sends her on a journey to unearth a web of family secrets and ultimately reveal a shocking truth.
Farah is directed by Kenton Oxley and Hassiba Freiha and stars Stephanie Atala, Majdi Machmouchi, Hassiba Freiha, Nader Abd Alhay, and many others.
The film was selected for the 10th anniversary of the Chelsea Film Festival in the United States, where it won the festival’s Special 10th Anniversary Award Feature Film. It also won the Best Arabic Film and the Best Art Direction awards at Egypt’s Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival.
