On Tuesday, Lebanon’s Ministry of Interior and Municipalities issued new measures and decisions for Election Day that will take place on Sunday, May 15th.
According to the circulars posted on the Ministry’s website, the decisions are the following:
- Motorcycles are banned across Lebanon from 6 am on Sunday, May 15, until 6 am Monday, May 16. Delivery services, the press, and security bodies are exempted.
- Nightclubs are to be closed from Saturday, May 14th at 8:00 p.m. till Monday, May 16 at 8:00 a.m.
- Restaurants and cafes to close on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 p.m., to reopen on Sunday, May 15 at 8:00 a.m..
The much-awaited 2022 Elections in Lebanon are now around the corner, with only a few days separating the Lebanese people from casting their votes.
It is deemed historic with the rise of civil society movements challenging the traditional ruling parties in the electoral race and having one of the highest youth engagements.
