On Thursday, Électricité du Liban (EDL) announced the provision of 12 hours of electricity once again to areas surrounding the Beirut Port.
This followed the collapse of more parts of the Beirut Port silos, and the power was provided from Thursday at 7 pm till Friday at 7 am.
The same measures were taken last Sunday when the first part of the silos crumbled.
The areas that benefited from this were Beirut Port, Al Medawar, Rmeil, Saifi, and Karantina.
Preventive and precautionary measures were issued in a joint statement by the ministries of health and environment should the silos collapse and release potentially toxic chemicals back into the air.
That was followed by sources of MTV stating that tests conducted on the materials in the port silos showed that they are not toxic.
