The Beirut Port Silos are expected to collapse “within hours” rather than days, said an official source to MTV on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Lebanese security forces launched a cordon around the port area to prevent civilians from entering the location due to the potential collapse of the silos.
Sources also told MTV that there are major cracks in parts of the northern warehouse of the silos.
The silos have been burning for the past few weeks due to high temperatures, and a portion of the northern warehouse collapsed on Sunday.
The collapse of the silos is likely to expose citizens to toxic chemicals, so it is crucial for civilians to follow the precautionary measures provided by the Ministries of Public Health and Environment.
Today also marks the second anniversary of the Beirut Port explosion and while the country mourns, justice is still waiting to be served.
