Lebanese Companies Will Now Have To Book Appointments To Use Banks

Following a series of armed bank heists across Lebanon this past month, banks were imposing temporary closures of their branches.

The head of the Federation of Banks Employees Syndicates, George Al-Hajj, said customers can withdraw from ATMs, however companies will need to take appointments to conduct their banking business.

He stressed that this system will remain in place until further notice.

Banking employees are carrying out a sit-in at 3pm next Wednesday under the slogan: “The security and safety of bankers is a red line.”

Last week, MP Cynthia Zarazir entered Byblos Bank in Antelias, unarmed, to demand a part of her deposit to pay for an upcoming surgery.
