Lebanon recorded 3,107 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, the Health Ministry confirmed in its report on the outbreak.
82 patients passed away due to the virus in the past 24 hours, while 3,500 others underwent full recovery.
This raises the total number of virus-related fatalities to 3,397 and that of recoveries to 192,324, putting active cases at 116,548 of the total 312,269 infection cases confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic.
According to the report, 2,429 of the total confirmed infections are among medical staff, 5 of which were registered between Wednesday and Thursday.
In the same period, 15,016 PCR tests were conducted, including 13,795 local tests and 1,221 performed at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport, raising the cumulative number of tests in the country so far to 2,655,105.
As of Thursday, 2,275 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in hospital beds across Lebanon, 914 are critical cases and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 325 are on mechanical ventilation.
As Lebanon continues to fight the outbreak, Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that it would ban the entry of travelers from Lebanon as part of its mitigative measures against the virus.
On the same day, the Lebanese Health Ministry recorded 3,320 COVID-19 cases and 89 fatalities.
