The University of Balamand (UOB)‘s Firelab has warned of a high risk of fire danger, on Wednesday, July 20th, and Thursday, July 21st.
Since the beginning of summer, numerous fires erupted across Lebanon, with some fires deemed deliberate acts.
The Lebanese Civil Defense just warned against using firecrackers on the upcoming Saint Elias’ Feast Day as it might inevitably lead to human injuries and cause forest fires, “especially since the forest fire risk indicator warns of a high risk of fire in many Lebanese areas.”
Lebanon’s environment has been suffering from a terrible stream of fires in the past few years, as 100 fires spread over large areas of forests back in 2019.
After news of fires erupting across the country, the Caretaker Minister of Environment shared a video of preventative measures and several steps to reduce the risk of fires.
