Ministry of Health Opened a New Primary Care Center in Dhour

The new health call center will provide medical services in the town of Dhour Choueir and the near region.

The minister of Public Health, Dr. Jamil Jabak, opened the primary health care center in Dhour Choueir - Matn District in a ceremony attended by a number of MPs and public figures, mayors, and doctors.

During the opening ceremony, the mayor of Dhour Choueir, Habib Moujaes, held a speech thanking the efforts of the minister of public health in opening the center. He described it as a "great achievement."

He expressed his wishes that it will be "culminated with the financial support and necessary equipment [in order] to become a destination for all the people of the region and the neighborhood in this difficult economic and social conditions..."

Mayor Moujaes also appealed to minister Jabak to "accelerate the disbursement of the dues of the center [in order] to accomplish its services to the fullest, especially that the health care centers became the first centers to incubate and provide medical services." He stressed that "the center is for the whole region and not only  for the town of Dhour Choueir."

From his side, Dr. Jabak said that he's "honored to inaugurate this center." He revealed that his ministry has drawn up a plan for health and primary care centers in Lebanon, "which is a priority for our work in the ministry because it reduces the hospital bill for public and private hospitals and works to address the simple things that the patient is exposed to."

Minister Jabak went on emphasizing that "the ministry supports around 220 primary care centers all over Lebanon by covering for the expenses of medical tests and hospitalization services, and it will reach 250 centers early next year."

He also revealed that "The World Bank has decided to allocate 120 million U.S. dollars to equip primary care centers and finance people's medical needs in Lebanon, including medical tests and radiography services at the expense of the center, which will be linked to all public hospitals in the region."

The minister concluded by asking the mayor of Dhour Choueir to present a list of the urgent needs of medicines and equipment to be provided by the ministry. In his words, this is "part of its budget of the primary health care centers to fulfill all the demands of the center [in order] to serve the good people in Dhour Choueir and the neighborhood."

The opening of the center concluded with mayor Moujaes presenting a shield to Minister Jabak as a token of thanks and appreciation.
