Sidon Is Getting Online Governorate Services

This e-governorate project aims to facilitate government services to the citizens.

Minister of Interior and Municipalities Raya Hassan sponsored the launching ceremony of the e-governorate's project, held upon the invitation of South Lebanon Governor Mansour Daou. The event took place at Rafic Hariri Hall in the Serail of Sidon in the presence of MPs Bahia Hariri, Michel Moussa, and Ali Osseiran, as well as many other officials and figures.

The e-governorates project includes a website (southlebanon.gov.lb) and a mobile application (South Lebanon Governorate) that aim to facilitate government services and save citizens' time.

This newly launched project provides several services, including a guide to the citizens, and the possibility of tracking transactions electronically. It also embodies one of the objectives committed by the current government, which is to promote the concept of e-government.

In her word, minister Hassan indicated that this project reflected the vision and dream of the late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, stressing on its importance as it allows the state administrations and citizens to keep pace with modernization.

"This is a bridge of communication between the state and its people," Hassan told reporters at the Sidon Serail, Monday morning. "If this is done well, the result will ensure projects and initiatives that benefit the province and its people," she said.

Speaking about Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Hassan asserted that he is committed to the priority of this goal and other reforming goals that contribute to the development of the country, including the re-launching of the Lebanese economy, the pace of development, and the positioning of Lebanon as an attractive destination for investors.

Hassan concluded by expressing her hope that this project will "contribute to a qualitative leap in services and make a difference that citizens feel in their daily lives." She also hopes to publicize this experience and include all local bodies, encouraging similar e-governance efforts in other regions.

"I assure you that our ambition for transactions without paper will not only be ink on paper," she said.

With this initiative, that southern region of Lebanon is stepping into the modern era, utilizing the tech tools available to the benefit of its citizens.
